What it is

The Alpha 1.022592 is a complete fan assembly manufactured by Alpha for the 240 series of gas boilers. It draws air into the combustion chamber and pushes the products of combustion through the heat exchanger and out to the flue, and it provides the fan proving signal that the boiler's control board needs before it will allow ignition. The assembly is supplied as a single unit covering the fan impellor and housing.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler locks out or fails to reach ignition, with a fan or air pressure related fault indicated.
  • Grinding, scraping or whining noise from the fan area when the boiler starts or runs.
  • Intermittent running, where the fan starts and stops or the boiler cycles on and off without reaching temperature.
  • Overheating or repeated lockouts shortly after the burner fires, caused by restricted airflow through the fan.
  • Visible damage, stiffness or play when the fan is turned by hand with the boiler isolated.

Before you order

  • Confirm the model and GC number of the appliance against the compatibility list, as several 240 series variants use different fan assemblies.
  • Check the numbers on the existing fan against the alternative and previous numbers listed here before ordering.
  • Inspect the fan mounting gasket and sealing washers, and replace them if they are compressed or perished.
