What it is

The Alpha 1.021528 is an 8 litre expansion vessel used in Alpha 240 and 280 series gas boilers. It absorbs the volume increase of water as the system heats up, holding system pressure within the boiler's working range. It is a serviceable component within the appliance's sealed heating circuit.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Boiler pressure rises sharply when the heating is running and falls again once it cools
  • System pressure drops repeatedly and needs frequent topping up
  • Water or moisture present at the vessel's air valve when the cap is removed
  • Discharge from the pressure relief valve caused by over-pressurisation
  • Visible corrosion or weeping at the vessel shell or its connection

Before you order

  • Confirm your appliance model against the fitment list above
  • Check the GC number on the boiler's data badge where one is listed
  • Verify the existing vessel's capacity and connection arrangement before removal
  • Confirm the system is depressurised and drained as required before fitting
