What it is

This is Alpha's primary condensing heat exchanger, part number 1.021521, fitted to the CD13R and CD18R boiler range. Water passes through the heat exchanger to be heated by the burner before being fed to the central heating system via the flow pipes.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Boiler kettling or making unusual banging/rumbling noises
  • Reduced heat output despite the burner firing normally
  • Signs of corrosion, scale or leaking around the exchanger
  • Boiler locking out on an overheat or flow fault

Before you order

  • Confirm the part number printed on your existing heat exchanger matches 1.021521
  • Check whether your boiler runs on natural gas or LPG
  • Isolate power, gas and water before removal
  • Have the work carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer
