What it is
The Alpha 1.018162 is a piezo spark generator supplied in a grey housing. It generates the high-voltage spark that lights the burner on Alpha gas boilers, working alongside the ignition electrode and lead. The unit is a direct replacement for the original generator fitted across the Alpha CD range.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No spark at the ignition electrode when the boiler runs its ignition sequence
- Boiler repeatedly goes to lockout after a failed light-up
- Audible click from the generator but no spark at the burner
- Weak, intermittent or irregular spark that lights the burner only occasionally
- Spark tracking or arcing from a cracked or damp generator body
