What it is

This is the 3 bar pressure relief (safety) valve fitted to affected Alpha boilers, which opens to release water if the system pressure rises too high. It is a genuine Alpha part, number 1.0180, listed by the manufacturer's own parts records as applicable up to boiler serial number A64100308.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The valve weeps or discharges water even at normal system pressure
  • The valve will not discharge when pressure is too high
  • Visible corrosion or limescale on the valve body
  • The discharge pipe shows signs of recurring drips

Before you order

  • Check your boiler's serial number against the cutoff quoted (up to A64100308) before ordering; a later-serial version of this valve (part 1.021739) is also available if your boiler is past this cutoff
  • Isolate and depressurise the system before removing the old valve
  • Fitting should be carried out or checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer
