What it is
The Alpha 1.017998 is a fan assembly used on Alpha CB and SY series gas boilers. It draws combustion air into the burner and drives flue gases out through the flue, while proving airflow to the boiler's control sequence. This assembly replaces the earlier codes 1.015854 and 1.017264.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler locks out or fails to fire, with a fan or airflow fault indicated
- Fan runs noisily, rumbling or squealing on start-up
- Fan does not spin when the boiler calls for heat
- Repeated lockouts after reset, or the boiler cutting out mid-cycle
- Visible damage, bearing play or debris around the impeller
