What it is
The Alpha M5 Copper Washer is a small sealing washer manufactured by Alpha for use in its gas boiler range. It fits M5 threaded connections and is used to seal joints against gas or water loss within the appliance. It is a serviceable component intended for replacement during repair or overhaul work.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Visible corrosion, pitting or discolouration of the copper face
- Flattening or deformation of the washer so it no longer seals
- Weeping or dampness at the joint the washer sits behind
- Washer missing or damaged after a joint has been opened
- Repeated joint leaks after tightening, indicating the washer has lost its sealing ability
