What it is
The Alpha 3 bar pressure relief valve is a safety component fitted to the sealed heating circuit of Alpha gas appliances. It opens progressively as system pressure rises, releasing water before the pressure reaches a level that could damage the boiler or the pipework. This valve is used across a wide range of Alpha combi and system models.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or dripping from the discharge pipe when the system is cold
- Pressure gauge reading climbing steadily with no obvious cause
- The valve failing to reseat after a pressure release, leaving a constant trickle
- Boiler locking out or cutting out on a pressure-related fault
- Scale or corrosion visible around the valve body or outlet
