What it is
The Vaillant spark generator, part number 091258, is an ignition component used on Vaillant standard water heating appliances. It generates the high-voltage spark that lights the burner when the appliance receives a call for heat. As a serviceable ignition part, it sits within the burner and combustion assembly and works alongside the ignition electrode and its lead to establish a flame at start-up.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The burner fails to light and the appliance goes to lockout during the ignition sequence
- A clicking sound is heard from the ignition circuit but no flame is established
- Ignition is intermittent, with the appliance lighting on some attempts and not others
- Lockouts clear on reset but return on the next call for heat
- No spark is visible at the electrode when the ignition sequence is running
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model and serial number, then match them to part number 091258
- Inspect the ignition electrode and its lead for damage or contamination before replacing the spark generator alone
- Ignition work on a gas appliance should be carried out by a competent person
