Ideal Fan Assembly Mexico FF40-80 079888

The Ideal 079888 is a fan assembly supplied for Ideal Mexico FF40-80 appliances and related British/Scottish Gas RD2 models. It sits in the combustion circuit and moves products of combustion through the heat exchanger and out to the flue, so the burner can fire correctly and the appliance can run through its sequence without interruption. The assembly is listed by Ideal under the fan impellors and fan assembly spare part group.

• The fan runs noisily, with rumbling, scraping or a dry bearing whine that does not clear once the appliance has warmed up.
• The appliance locks out or fails to complete its ignition sequence because the fan cannot prove airflow.
• The fan impellor turns stiffly, intermittently or not at all when checked by hand with the power isolated.
• Overheating, sooting or a weak, unstable flame pattern caused by poor combustion air movement.
• Visible damage to the impellor, housing or mounting points, or a fan that cuts out part way through a demand.

• Match the GC number on the appliance data badge against the compatibility list, as several RD2 variants use different fan assemblies.
• Confirm the appliance model and serial details before ordering, particularly where the appliance has been converted or re-badged.
• Check the fan mounting gasket and any sealing washers on the appliance, as these are separate items and may need renewing at the same time.
• Compare the alternative numbers 1175142 and N0558-1 against the markings on the old fan to confirm the correct unit.
