What it is

The Ideal 079600 is a gas valve assembly built on the Honeywell VR4700E1042 NF Classic pattern. It sits in the gas train of the appliance and regulates the flow of gas through to the burner, opening and closing in step with the boiler's ignition and modulation sequence. It is supplied as an Ideal Spares component for the Classic range.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The burner fails to light, or lights and then drops out shortly after ignition.
  • Ignition is intermittent, with the appliance locking out on some start attempts but not others.
  • Gas flow is weak or uneven, giving a poor or unstable flame at the burner.
  • The valve body shows signs of sticking, or there is a smell of gas around the gas train.
  • The appliance repeatedly goes to lockout with no other fault found on the ignition or flame sensing side.

Before you order

  • Confirm the model and GC number on the appliance data badge, and check them against the compatibility list on this page.
  • Match the valve pattern against the one fitted: VR4700E1042 NF Classic.
  • Check whether the joint washers or seals on the gas train need renewing at the same time, as these are not supplied with the valve.
  • This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
