The Ideal 078331 is a diverter valve assembly supplied complete with microswitch and gaskets. It is a hydraulic component fitted to Ideal Sprint appliances, where it switches the flow of water between the domestic hot water circuit and the central heating circuit. The integral microswitch signals the appliance when hot water is drawn, so the valve and switch work together as a single serviceable unit.

• No hot water when a tap is opened, with the boiler failing to respond to a demand
• Domestic hot water running hot and cold, or fluctuating in temperature
• Radiators warming up while hot water is being drawn
• Diverter valve sticking or failing to move through its full travel
• Water weeping from the valve body or around the gasket faces

• Check the appliance GC number and model against the compatibility list to confirm the valve is correct for the boiler
• Compare the number on the existing valve with 078331, and note the previous number 589220042 where an older unit is being replaced
