Ideal Flow Switch 16 Sec 066311

The Ideal 066311 is a flow switch rated at 16 seconds, used across a number of Ideal Commercial appliances. It sits in the water circuit and detects whether water is actually moving through the appliance, signalling the control board once flow is established. Where flow is not proven, the switch keeps the appliance from running through its ignition sequence.

This is a serviceable component rather than a consumable, so it is normally replaced when the switching action becomes unreliable or the appliance stops proving flow altogether.

• The appliance fails to fire on a call for heat even though the pump is running and water is circulating.
• The boiler or heater locks out shortly after start-up, with a flow-related fault indicated on the controls.
• Operation becomes intermittent, with the appliance running correctly on some calls and dropping out on others.
• The switch no longer changes state when flow is present, so the control board never receives a proof signal.
• Repeated resets are needed to get the appliance through its start sequence.

• Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list before ordering, as the same part number is used across several Ideal Commercial ranges.
• Check the numbers on the existing switch against 066311, 1171440 and 88024736 to make sure the correct item is being replaced.
• Inspect the housing and any seals at the point of removal, and renew them if they show signs of hardening, cracking or leakage.
• Allow the appliance and water circuit to cool and isolate the electrical supply before starting work.
