What it is
The Vaillant 064950 is a domestic hot water (DHW) heat exchanger used in Vaillant Turbomax VUW combi boilers. It transfers heat from the primary circuit to the mains cold water supply to produce hot water at the tap. It is a serviceable component and is replaced when scale, blockage or leakage affects hot water performance.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Hot water temperature has dropped or fluctuates despite the boiler firing correctly
- Reduced hot water flow rate at the taps
- Kettling, banging or rumbling noises when hot water is drawn
- Water weeping from the heat exchanger body or its connections
- Scale or debris visible on the DHW side of the exchanger
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model and GC number against the fitment list above
- Check whether the fault lies with the DHW heat exchanger or the primary heat exchanger
- Inspect the seals and gaskets at the exchanger connections, as these may need renewing at the same time
- Verify the part number 064950 on the existing component or the manufacturer's parts list
