What it is

The Ideal 060550 is a printed circuit board supplied under the PCB 7B designation. It is the control board that sits at the centre of an Ideal appliance's electrical system, handling the sequence of operations that take the boiler from a call for heat through to ignition, running and shutdown. The board also carries the monitoring and safety logic that watches inputs from the fan, pump, sensors and thermostat before allowing the appliance to fire.

Because it governs so many linked functions, a failure here usually shows up as a boiler that will not respond at all, or one that behaves erratically rather than failing cleanly.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The appliance shows no response at all when a demand for heat is made, with no display or indicator activity.
  • The boiler repeatedly locks out or resets, particularly shortly after firing or during the ignition sequence.
  • Error or fault codes appear that point to control or sequencing faults rather than to a sensor or gas-side issue.
  • The fan, pump or diverter behave erratically, running out of sequence or continuing after shutdown.
  • Visible damage on the board itself, such as scorching, discoloured tracks, bulging capacitors or a burnt smell around the housing.

Before you order

  • Read the part number and board designation printed on the existing PCB and match it against 060550 and PCB 7B before ordering, as board revisions are not interchangeable across every appliance variant.
  • Check the appliance data badge and any service documentation to confirm the model and, where shown, the GC number.
  • Inspect the wiring harness, plugs and any gasket or seal around the board housing for heat damage, and replace where the connector bodies are brittle or distorted.
  • Isolate the electrical supply at the fused spur and confirm dead before removing or fitting the board.
