What it is
The Ideal 052049 is a 6mm extended nut and olive assembly, supplied as a compression fitting component for Ideal appliances. The extended nut gives extra reach where the pipe stub sits deeper inside the casing or manifold than a standard nut would allow, and the olive compresses onto the pipe to form the seal. It is used on Concord, Elan and Mexico appliances, including the Mexico CF range, where it secures small-bore pipework connections.
Signs this part needs replacing
- A weeping or damp joint at the nut, with water tracking down the pipe
- Green or white corrosion staining around the nut and olive
- The olive visibly crushed, split or sitting off-square on the pipe
- The nut rounded off or seized, making it impossible to nip up further
- A joint that will not seal after re-tightening, indicating a deformed olive
