What it is
The Ideal 013770 is a rear cover plate gasket supplied by Ideal for its Commercial Super Plus range of appliances. It sits between the rear cover plate and the appliance casing, sealing the joint so that flue products, condensate and water cannot escape past the plate. Gaskets of this type are compressed in service and degrade over time, so they are replaced whenever the rear cover plate is removed or refitted.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Visible water or condensate staining around the rear cover plate joint
- A gasket that has hardened, flattened or cracked and no longer springs back when compressed
- Damp patches or corrosion on the casing or plate faces where the seal has failed
- Slight weeping at the joint after the cover plate has been disturbed during servicing
- The gasket breaking up or sticking to the plate when the cover is lifted
