What it is

The Ideal 013696 is a fan pressure sensing probe used on Ideal Commercial appliances. It sits in the air path around the combustion fan and detects the pressure differential created when the fan runs, passing that signal back to the control board so the appliance can prove air flow before it allows ignition. A probe that reads incorrectly, or a blocked or split sensing tube, will stop the appliance from firing even when the fan itself is running normally.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The appliance locks out or fails to fire, with a fan or air pressure fault code shown
  • The fan runs but air flow is never proven, so the appliance shuts down before ignition
  • Repeated lockouts on start-up or intermittent ignition over several attempts
  • Fault codes relating to fan pressure, air proving or flue pressure
  • The probe or its sensing tube is blocked with debris, kinked, split or showing corrosion at the connection

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list before ordering
  • Check the part number printed on the existing component matches 013696
  • Inspect the sensing tube and its connections first, as a blocked or split tube produces the same symptoms as a failed probe
