What it is

The Ideal Circular Cork Gasket, part number 012589, is a sealing component used in Ideal commercial boilers. It is a flat circular gasket cut from cork sheet, sized to sit between two mating faces and close the joint between a boiler component and its pipework. In the Concord Super range it is used at points such as heat exchangers and gas valves, where the joint has to hold back gas and water under normal operating pressure and temperature.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Water weeping or a damp stain around a joint on the heat exchanger or associated pipework
  • A detectable gas smell at a joint on the gas valve or gas-carrying section of the boiler
  • The gasket is visibly cracked, split, flattened or crumbling when the joint is opened
  • Cork has hardened or gone brittle with heat and no longer compresses to fill the mating faces
  • A joint that has been disturbed and cannot be re-sealed with the old gasket

Before you order

  • Confirm the boiler model and serial number against the compatibility list, as the Concord Super range is split across several horizontal and vertical variants
  • Check the number on the old gasket or the parts list, as 1170394 may appear on older documentation for the same item
  • Inspect both mating faces for pitting, corrosion or old gasket residue before fitting, and clean them back to bare metal
