What it is
The Vaillant 012156 stuffing box is a gland seal assembly for water valves on older Vaillant appliances. It seals the valve spindle where it passes through the valve body, preventing water escaping along the spindle. This component is specified for water valves manufactured before June 2000 and replaces the earlier code 012153.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping from the valve spindle, particularly when the valve is operated
- Persistent drips collecting around the gland nut or valve body
- Damp, staining or corrosion around the spindle area
- The spindle becoming stiff or difficult to turn as the gland tightens or dries out
- Water tracking down the valve body onto surrounding components
