What it is
The Ideal 004973 is a grommet fitted at the top left-hand corner of the casing on Ideal Classic RS boilers. It belongs to the gasket, O-ring, seal and washer group, and its job is to seal the point where components pass through the casing so that water cannot escape into the surrounding area. It is supplied as an individual Ideal spare part.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or staining around the top left-hand corner of the casing
- A perished, hardened or split grommet visible once the casing is opened up
- Damp patches or corrosion on nearby panels and fixings
- Drips tracking down from the corner onto components below
- Moisture returning to the same point after the casing has been refitted
