What it is

The Vaillant 0020236144 is a compression fitting with a 22mm pipe connection and a 3/4 inch threaded connection. It is used on Vaillant VIH and Vantage VIH unvented hot water cylinders to join pipework to the cylinder's threaded tappings. The fitting seals by compressing an olive onto the pipe as the nut is tightened.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Visible weeping or water tracking at the compression joint
  • Corrosion or green/white scale build-up on the nut or body
  • A deformed or crushed olive that will not reseal after re-tightening
  • Rounded or split nut flats preventing correct tightening
  • Joint that continues to seep after the nut has been nipped up

Before you order

  • Confirm the cylinder model against the fitment list above
  • Check the pipe size is 22mm and the cylinder tapping is 3/4 inch
  • Inspect the existing joint to confirm whether the fitting body, nut or olive is at fault
  • Isolate and drain the cylinder connection before removal
