What it is

The Vaillant 0020236136 is a cable strain relief component used on Vaillant unvented hot water cylinders. It secures the electrical supply cable where it enters the cylinder's control or connection housing, preventing strain being transferred to the terminal connections. It is listed by Vaillant for the Vantage and VIH GB cylinder families.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The cable gland or clamp no longer grips the supply cable securely
  • Visible cracking, splitting or deformation of the strain relief body
  • The cable can be pulled or twisted at the entry point, putting load on the terminals
  • Signs of heat damage or discolouration around the cable entry
  • The strain relief has been lost or discarded during previous work on the cylinder

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model against the fitment list above
  • Check the existing strain relief on the cylinder to confirm the part type and mounting arrangement
  • Verify the manufacturer part number 0020236136 matches the item required
  • Isolate the electrical supply before inspecting or replacing the component
