What it is

The Vaillant 0020231102 is a pressure relief valve with a PT15 connection and a 1/2 inch thread. It is fitted to Vaillant Vantage and VIH unvented hot water cylinders, where it opens to discharge excess pressure and protect the cylinder and its associated components. The valve is a serviceable safety component and should be replaced if it fails to hold or reseat correctly.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Water weeping or discharging continuously from the valve outlet when the system is at normal operating pressure.
  • The valve fails to reseat after a pressure event and continues to drip.
  • Scale or debris visible at the valve seat, preventing a clean seal.
  • Discharge pipework running warm or wet without a corresponding rise in cylinder pressure.
  • The valve body or spindle shows corrosion, stiffness or mechanical damage.

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model against the fitment list above, as the valve is specific to the Vantage and VIH cylinder ranges.
  • Check the existing valve marking to confirm the PT15 connection and 1/2 inch thread.
  • Verify the pressure rating required for the cylinder before fitting, as the rating is not stated for this part.
  • Inspect the discharge pipework and tundish at the same time, as a faulty valve often coincides with discharge route issues.
