What it is
The Vaillant 0020222904 is an evaporator used in the Flexotherm VWF 157/4 heat pump. It is the heat exchanger where refrigerant absorbs heat from the outdoor air, so it sits at the centre of the unit's heat collection circuit. A restricted or damaged evaporator directly reduces the appliance's heating capacity.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Frost or ice building up unevenly across the evaporator coil
- Reduced heating output or the unit running longer to reach set temperature
- Visible refrigerant oil residue, corrosion or physical damage to the coil
- Repeated low-pressure or refrigerant circuit fault codes
- Defrost cycles running more often than normal without clearing the coil
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model is the Flexotherm VWF 157/4
- Check the existing part number against 0020222904 before removing anything
- Inspect the refrigerant circuit for leaks or other faults that may have caused the evaporator damage
- Confirm the system is to be recovered and recharged by a competent person before fitting
