What it is
The CONTROL BOX is a Vaillant control box supplied under part number 0020175837. It is used on Vaillant Arotherm VWL 230V heat pump units, where it houses and connects the appliance's control and switching components. It is a serviceable electrical assembly rather than a user-facing control panel.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The heat pump fails to respond to control input, with no switching or sequencing at the control box
- Internal components show burning, charring, corrosion or water ingress
- Terminal connections are loose, pitted or heat-damaged and cannot be made good
- Repeated electrical faults or blown protective devices traced to the control box
- Physical damage to the enclosure, mounting points or internal wiring
Before you order
- Confirm the part number on the existing control box matches 0020175837
- Check the appliance model against the fits list above, as VWL variants differ
- Isolate the electrical supply and follow the manufacturer's wiring and safety instructions before removal
- Inspect the mounting position and connections for damage that may need attention alongside the replacement
