What it is
The Vaillant 0020175836 is an EMC filter supplied as an electronic component for Vaillant Arotherm air-to-water heat pumps in the 5 kW, 8 kW and 11 kW output range. It sits within the appliance's electrical assembly and suppresses electromagnetic interference generated by the unit's power electronics. The filter forms part of the appliance's supply-side circuitry rather than the refrigerant or hydraulic circuit.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Repeated tripping of the RCD or MCB on the heat pump supply
- Fault codes logged against the appliance's power electronics or inverter stage
- Electrical interference affecting other equipment on the same supply
- Visible discolouration, burning or swelling on the filter body
- Overheating or a burning smell local to the electrical enclosure
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model and output rating against the fitment list above
- Check the part number on the existing filter before removal
- Isolate the electrical supply and follow the manufacturer's safe isolation procedure
- Verify the fault is not caused by upstream wiring or supply-side protection
