What it is
The Vaillant 0020148034 is an expansion valve coil used on Arotherm and VWL air-to-water heat pumps. It is the electrically driven coil that actuates the electronic expansion valve, allowing the valve opening to be modulated in response to system demand. Correct coil operation is essential for controlled refrigerant flow through the heat pump circuit.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Heat pump fails to modulate output and runs at a fixed duty
- Reduced heating or hot water performance with no other obvious cause
- Fault codes relating to the electronic expansion valve or refrigerant circuit
- No resistance reading across the coil, indicating an open circuit
- Visible damage to the coil body, windings or lead
Before you order
- Confirm your appliance model against the fitment list above
- Check the part number on the existing coil before removal
- Inspect the coil connector and wiring for damage or corrosion
- Confirm the fault lies with the coil rather than the valve body or control board
