What it is
The NTC thermistor is a temperature-sensing component used on Glow-worm Betacom gas boilers. It provides the boiler's control system with a resistance signal that changes with temperature, allowing the PCB to monitor and regulate the appliance's water temperature. This part supersedes the earlier NTC 0020061581.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler locks out or shuts down intermittently with a temperature-related fault code
- Domestic hot water or heating runs hot then cold, or temperature is erratic
- Boiler fires but cuts out before reaching the set temperature
- Fault code logged for a sensor or thermistor circuit fault
- Resistance reading from the sensor falls outside the expected range for the measured temperature

- Check the fault code or diagnostic reading points to the NTC sensor rather than the PCB or wiring
- Inspect the sensor lead and plug for damage or corrosion before replacing the sensor itself
