What it is
The Glow-worm 0020097328 is a 10 litre expansion vessel intended for Glow-worm heating appliances. Its job is to take up the increase in water volume as the system heats, keeping circuit pressure within a stable band instead of letting it climb. Inside, a diaphragm separates the water side from a pre-charged air side, which compresses as heated water enters the vessel and re-expands as the system cools.
Signs this part needs replacing
- System pressure reads high when cold, or climbs sharply once the appliance is running.
- Water discharging from the pressure relief valve during normal operation.
- Water present at the air valve on the vessel, or no air pressure registered when the charge is checked.
- Frequent topping up of system pressure to keep the appliance working.
- Corrosion, blistering paint or distortion visible on the vessel shell.
