What it is

The Glow-worm 0020061278 is an expansion vessel for the BG330 PLUS gas boiler. It absorbs the volume increase of the system water as it heats, holding the sealed heating circuit within its working pressure range. The vessel is charged with air on one side of an internal diaphragm, which compresses as system water expands into the other side.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • System pressure rises sharply when the boiler heats up and falls again once it cools.
  • The pressure relief valve discharges water during normal heating cycles.
  • The pressure gauge reads high with the system cold and climbs further as it warms.
  • Water is present at the vessel's air valve when the charge is checked.
  • The boiler locks out or drops to low pressure shortly after being topped up.
