What it is
The air pressure switch is a safety device used on Glow-worm gas boilers. It monitors the pressure produced by the fan and confirms that combustion air is being moved through the appliance before the boiler is allowed to fire. This switch is listed for the Glow-worm Micron 50FF.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler fails to fire and locks out, with the fan running but no ignition sequence.
- Repeated lockouts on start-up that clear only after a reset.
- Fan runs continuously or the boiler cycles erratically because the switch is not signalling correctly.
- Fault code or diagnostic indication pointing to the air pressure switch or flue/air proving circuit.
- Visible damage, perished tubing or corroded terminals at the switch.
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler model is the Glow-worm Micron 50FF.
- Check the part number on the existing switch against 0020053615.
- Inspect the sensing tubes and fan for blockages or faults before assuming the switch is at fault, as these can produce the same symptoms.
- Work on gas appliances must be carried out by a competent, registered engineer.
