What it is
The Vaillant 0020039781 is a storage water heater used in Vaillant ecoTEC PLUS combi boilers. It holds heated domestic water within the appliance so that hot water is available at the tap without waiting for the boiler to fire. It is listed for the ecoTEC PLUS 937, 938 and 940 families and the VUI 286, 376 and 386 variants.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Hot water runs cold sooner than it used to, or the stored volume at the tap is noticeably reduced
- Water weeping or dripping from the storage vessel or its connections
- Scale or corrosion visible on the vessel or its fittings
- The boiler fires correctly but hot water at the tap is inconsistent or slow to arrive
Before you order
- Check the appliance data badge for the exact model and variant (R1, R2, R4, R6), as the storage water heater is not common to every ecoTEC PLUS model
- Confirm the fault lies with the storage vessel rather than a diverter valve, sensor or plate heat exchanger
- Check the part number 0020039781 against the manufacturer's parts list for your appliance
- Allow for draining and isolating the appliance before removal
