What it is
The Vaillant impeller with aqua sensor (part number 0020029604) is a water flow sensing assembly used in the domestic hot water circuit of Vaillant combination and system boilers. The impeller rotates as water passes through the sensor body, and the sensor signals that flow to the boiler control board so the appliance can fire for hot water demand. It is fitted across the Turbomax Plus, Turbomax Pro and Aquaplus VUW/VUI ranges.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No hot water demand registered, so the boiler does not fire when a tap is opened
- Hot water runs intermittently, cutting in and out as flow is detected and lost
- Fault code relating to the aqua sensor or DHW flow sensor stored on the boiler
- Scale or debris on the impeller causing it to stick or rotate unevenly
- Domestic hot water temperature unstable despite correct flow rate at the tap
