What it is
The Glow-worm 0020020763 is an igniter assembly used across a number of Glow-worm gas boiler ranges. It generates the high-voltage spark at the burner during the ignition sequence, lighting the gas when the appliance receives a call for heat or hot water. Once the flame is established and proved, the igniter stops sparking until the next demand cycle.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler attempts to fire but does not light, then locks out
- No audible spark at the burner during the ignition sequence
- Repeated ignition attempts before the appliance goes to lockout
- Intermittent lighting, particularly in damp conditions or after long idle periods
- A fault code or lockout pattern consistent with an ignition failure
