What it is
The by-pass is a Glow-worm boiler component that sits in the appliance's primary water circuit and maintains a minimum flow through the heat exchanger as system demand changes. It is supplied under Glow-worm part number 0020014169. It is used across a wide range of Glow-worm combi, system and regular boiler models.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler short-cycling or repeatedly firing and shutting down on low system demand
- Kettling, banging or rushing water noise from the heat exchanger
- Overheat or flow-related lockouts that clear on reset
- Poor temperature control at the taps or radiators
- Visible scale, debris or damage at the by-pass when the appliance is opened up
