What it is
The Vaillant expansion valve (part number 10033534) is a refrigeration circuit component used across the Arotherm PLUS /6 air source heat pump range. It meters the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator so the pressure drop and subsequent evaporation are controlled. The valve sits within the heat pump's refrigerant circuit and is not a user-serviceable item.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Reduced heating or hot water output despite the heat pump running
- Frost or ice forming unevenly on the outdoor unit coil
- Frequent short cycling of the compressor
- Whistling or hissing from the refrigerant circuit during running
- Refrigerant pressure or superheat readings outside the expected range on service checks
Before you order
- Confirm the model on the appliance data plate matches one of the listed Arotherm PLUS /6 variants
- Check the part number on the existing valve before ordering
- Confirm the appliance is not covered by another revision of the same assembly
- Arrange fitting through an engineer qualified to work on the refrigerant circuit
