What it is
The Ideal 000030 is a 1/8 inch pressure test nipple manufactured by Ideal for use on Ideal Commercial boiler appliances. It provides the threaded test point where a manometer or pressure gauge is connected to check operating pressures during commissioning, servicing and fault diagnosis. The nipple is a small but critical item on the gas train, and a worn or damaged one can prevent an accurate reading or allow a slight weep at the test point.
Signs this part needs replacing
- A visible weep or gas smell at the test point after the cap or gauge is removed
- Damaged, flattened or cross-threaded nipple threads that will not accept a test gauge cleanly
- Difficulty obtaining a steady, repeatable pressure reading at the test point
- Corrosion or scale build-up around the nipple on older appliances
- Nipple snapped or sheared off during servicing, leaving the threaded stub in the housing
