What it is
The primary pressure switch and washer is a sensing component fitted to Alpha gas boilers in the CD and CB families. It monitors pressure within the appliance and passes a signal to the control board so the boiler can prove safe operating conditions before continuing through its sequence. This is the Alpha part numbered 3.014379, supplied with its washer.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler locks out or fails to fire when there is a call for heat
- Ignition is intermittent, with repeated lockout cycles
- A pressure or air-proving related fault code appears on the display
- Heating or hot water cuts out part way through a cycle
- The boiler restarts only after being reset, then faults again
Before you order
- Check the GC number on the appliance data badge against the compatibility list to confirm the correct variant
- Compare the part number currently fitted with 3.014379 and the earlier numbers listed below
- Confirm whether the existing washer is reusable, as a replacement washer is supplied with this switch
