What it is

The MCB2257 is a hydraulic valve kit manufactured by Morco Products, the UK supplier of central heating and hot water equipment to the caravan holiday home industry for over 60 years. It sits within the diverter valves and hydraulics group of spares and forms part of the water-side control assembly on the FEB-24 appliance family. The kit carries the water flow through the valve body so the appliance responds correctly when a hot water outlet is opened.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • No hot water or intermittent hot water when an outlet is opened, with the burner failing to fire
  • Water escaping from around the valve body or from the joints on the hydraulic assembly
  • The appliance switching between modes erratically, or failing to hold a steady flow rate
  • Scale, sludge or debris causing the valve to stick or operate sluggishly
  • Water pressure at the outlet dropping noticeably compared with previous performance

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list before ordering, as the FEB-24 variants use different configurations
  • Check the existing valve body for the MCB2257 marking, or cross-reference the alternative number 8914093 if the original label is unreadable
  • Inspect the seals and gaskets on the existing assembly before removal, as these are disturbed during the swap and may need replacing at the same time
  • Isolate the water supply and, where the appliance is gas-fired, follow the manufacturer's service instructions before dismantling any part of the water section
